About us

We want to create long-term value for investors and society at large by building a portfolio of world class African food and agribusinesses that facilitate positive change.

Willem Meyer
Campitor Founder, CEO, Director

Willem was part of the Stellenbosch-based PSG Group Private Equity team that built and listed South Africa’s Zeder Investments in 2006. Zeder is a JSE-listed agribusiness investment company with interests in food processing, fruit exports, agri inputs, seed and farming. Willem’s tenure as CEO with Chayton Africa, an African farming enterprise in which Zeder invested, gave him first-hand experience in leading a large African operational agribusiness.

In 2015, Willem moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, where helped start the African Agribusiness Knowledge and Innovation Leadership Initiative. In collaboration with faculty and students of the MIT and Harvard, Willem researched models of African agribusiness, drawing from his experience from working in investment and operational sectors in Africa. He relocated to South Africa to start Campitor Investments.

DF Fyfer
Campitor Founder, Director

After finishing his studies in Agriculture at the University of Stellenbosch, DF launched his career as a procurement agent among the Western Cape wheat producers where he learned the basics of the trade. He ended his tenure in trading as global Head of Corn, working in Geneva for Noble, one of the world’s largest multinational trading companies.

DF managed a large global book of physicals, logistics, derivatives, risk and people across continents and time zones. He left Noble in 2014 to run his family’s seventh generation farming operation.

Our Philosophy

We partner with and invest in companies that employ, uplift and create long-term value for our shareholders. Through this, we aim to contribute to a healthier lifestyle by producing healthy, quality food. We are value-adding investors, actively involved in the companies we partner with. We nurture them to create sustainable growth. Investors who want to generate solid returns and impact people’s lives positively will find value by partnering with us.

To ensure long-term growth for all stakeholders, we seek to partner with growing companies with strong entrepreneurial management teams. We are builders, not just buyers of businesses. We invest in the people running the companies and understand the obstacles they face. We have done it ourselves. Apart from capital, investee companies also receive strategic input and support from us.
